21 Days Of Prayer – Week 2

WEEK 2 – Devotional by Brooke Kelly

As we set forth into 2022, it is also a time of reflection – reflecting on our past and reflection of the powerful stories of God’s good works in our lives and throughout the Bible. In these stories, time and time again we see the mandate of unity at work in the lives of all believers. This call to unity does not mean that God wants us all to be the exact same, but instead it is a mission to seek a harmony and oneness as the body of Christ together.

Imagine the workings of a great orchestra – the sounds of symphony are not produced if the percussion section has all the limelight, or if only the strings sections is center stage. The celebration is in their unity working together to produce a beautiful sound!

How wonderful it is when the people of God inspire – create – work together in unity. Can you just envision the celebration of Heaven when the Church operates with a likeminded heart and spirit to build the Kingdom of God?

As shared in Colossians 3, we are God’s chosen people, all with different strengths, talents and giftings but with the same commandment – to live in unity, and by doing so we reflect Christ to the world we live in! In an age that seeks to divide and cancel at every turn, may we be a people that moves forward together celebrating the differences that make us each so wonderfully unique and may that unity draw others to a relationship with Jesus! The best is yet to come.

COLOSSIANS 3:12-17 NIV

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.  Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Day 9 – Pray For Unity In Oneself

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.  Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
Ephesians 4:1-3

Take time today to pray against the distractions and demands of the world; that you would commit to living a life on course for God’s call on your life.

Day 10 – Pray For Unity In Your Family And Personal Relationships

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! …For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.
Psalm 133:1-3

Take time today to devote your prayer and personal life to developing the relationships and home life you seek to obtain. Where there is unity, God commands His blessing.

Day 11 – Pray For Unity Within The Local Church And Specifically YOUR Local Church, Wave Church

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Romans 12:4-8

Take time today to pray for our church family. Our church is made up of MANY different people that come together to create ONE beautiful church home. We need one another!

Day 12 – Pray For Unity For Our Local Community And Our Nation

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
Philippians 2:1-4

Day 13 – Pray For Unity In Our Local Government Leaders & For Our National Political Leaders

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.  This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy 2:1-4

Take time today to pray for those who serve our country in leadership roles and their families.

Day 14 – Pray For Unity Amongst The Global Church And To All Believers Of Jesus Christ

The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
James 5:16
