Devoted Blog

Day 17

February 16, 2016

Have you finished your preparations for Devoted Conference already?

As we prepare our travel arrangements for Devoted, we make sure to hit everything on the list before we head off, don’t we? Hotel room secured – check, prep the husband for a weekend alone with kids – double check, laundry complete – check, fuel tank full – check, strategic pit stops planned – check & AMEN!

A plan is typically a good thing! In order to maximize our time (and, for me, to ensure my infant gets fed more than just O-Puffs all weekend long), we make plans. We find security in a plan. So, surely, we should have a plan before we approach God, right?

In Jeremiah 29:11 He says He knows the plans HE has for us. What if  instead of worrying about our plans, we focused on HIS plans? What if instead of making sure everything is in order before we go to God, we trusted in His grace and acceptance for us?

In 1 Peter 5:6 God calls us to humble ourselves & cast our cares on Him. It’s easy to come to God when life is in order, our relationships are firing on all cylinders, & our faith is full. It’s humbling to come to God with our dirty laundry, our problems, & when our spiritual tank is on “E”. That is when his strength is made perfect in our life! God doesn’t want your completed checklist, He wants your mess.

If you believe that, let’s pray together:

God I thank you that I can come to you just as I am. Thank you that I don’t need to have everything in order before coming to you. You bring completion to the areas I lack. God, I choose to trust in your plan even though I don’t always want to. I thank you that through Devoted Conference, you will bring to life more of your plan for me.

AMEN!!

Love, Megan Paraiso
