Exodus 34:1-3 NIV
The Lord said to Moses, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. Be ready in the morning, and then come up on Mount Sinai. Present yourself to me there on top of the mountain. No one is to come with you or be seen anywhere on the mountain; not even the flocks and herds may graze in front of the mountain.”
Moses had gotten angry because the Israelite’s decided they needed another God & he had smashed the original tablets with the 10 commandments. Moses was commanded to cut the tablets another time – God told him to get ready to meet with him again.
I see things in this scripture that I feel relate to our lives today.
- In the morning, be READY to climb
It’s fall 2016 – get ready to do what you’ve never done before. God’s not calling us to a walk, a stroll or even a light jog. He wants us to climb. God is asking for your faith & your heart.
Proverbs 4:23 NIV
Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
When you climb a mountain you will encounter crevices, boulders, nature, & things you didn’t expect that make the climb harder. When you climb something you’ve never climbed before, you run into the unexpected.
Maybe you started to climb your mountain, but it got too hard. Life happens to us & we sometimes want to run down or away, not up. And we can often compare our climb with another’s climb. Why do I have to endure this hardship & they don’t? But you know in your heart that this thinking won’t help you to climb your mountain – don’t you!?
What was it that God engraved on your heart that caused you to start climbing in the first place? What was the last thing you heard him ask you to do?
- Get SET to meet with me
Don’t assume or be flippant about the journey – plan. What are you going to do to make your world different in this season, this time?
God is in the climb – whatever it looks like. Be honest and open & set to meet Him.
Psalms 16:11 NIV
You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
The climb is sometimes hard on the way up but the perspective is always different from the top of the mountain.
- Not a soul is to GO with you
God is drawing you to himself – spend time with just you & Him.
Exodus 34:8-9 MSG
At once, Moses fell to the ground and worshiped, saying, “Please, O Master, if you see anything good in me, please Master, travel with us, hard-headed as these people are. Forgive our iniquity and sin. Own us, possess us.”
Moses fell on the ground and worshiped. He asked God to own and possess his people, in spite of their hard hearts.
IT WAS NEVER ABOUT MOSES. IT WAS ABOUT OTHERS. HIS PEOPLE. We were put side by side with others. God wants time with you – alone. As you are transformed & changed by spending time with Him, He also uses you to be His hands & feet by helping & coming alongside others.
The women’s ministry of Wave Church has changed its name to SISTERS because we are meant to do life with each other, to stand with one another, to help one another – no matter what age, denomination, culture or color. Sisters meets Wednesday mornings 9:30am, as well as Sisters Nights throughout the year at our Wave Church Great Neck Campus 1,000 N Great Neck Rd, Virginia Beach.
Our next Wave Sisters Night will be on December 1, 2016.
