I’m a woman guilty of over-thinking things – A LOT! That’s why I have adopted the phrase “keep it simple Sandy” as my own. It helps me to focus on keeping the main thing, the main thing. I’m also by nature a person who prefers to play things safe and not take too many risks – yet I hear the echo of the over 80 generation. Do you remember too – the over 80’s who were surveyed and asked what they would do differently if they had the choice. Their most common answers were that they would take more risks and do more that lived on after they had died.
Hmm – risk more and things eternal. That sounds like a God combination to me! Didn’t God bankrupt heaven so that you and I could have eternal life? So what are the important things in life? (This is not a concise list, but nevertheless, still important)…
God’s heart is for none to perish and our #1 role here on earth is to bring as many people to heaven with us as possible.
John 10:28 NLT
“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me,”
Addressing the Issues of our Heart
I want to trust God wholeheartedly, but my foe – the devil – wants to keep me contained, stuck in my thinking, seeing myself as a grasshopper (Num 13:33 NIV).
We can all address our thinking and keep moving forward by guarding the affections of our heart…
Proverbs 4:23 TPT
“So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.”
Be in the Word
God’s Word is eternal. Becoming someone who knows and loves God’s Word has to start somewhere – why not let that somewhere be here and now by picking up your Bible and reading it. And then start memorizing one scripture a week – we all start somewhere. You’re a woman of God in the making!
Matthew 24:35 TPT
“The earth and sky will wear out and fade away before one word I speak loses its power or fails to accomplish its purpose.”
How often do we talk about a problem, worry about a problem, or ask for advice about a problem before we pray about that problem? Yet prayer is how we speak to God and how we make our requests known to Him…
Psalms 6:9 TPT
“Yes! Yahweh my healer has heard all my pleading and has taken hold of my prayers and answered them all.”
I am loving my Passion Translation Bible and Acts 2:42-43 speaks to me of these simple things that are important. Above all else I want to keep a deep sense of holy awe for my God…
Acts 2:42-43 TPT
“Every believer was faithfully devoted to following the teachings of the apostles. Their hearts were mutually linked to one another, sharing communion and coming together regularly for prayer. A deep sense of holy awe swept over everyone, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.”
