DAY 14
Devotional by Phoebe Campbell

Hi my name is Phoebe and I love myself. ☺️

If I had said this a few months or years ago it wouldn’t have been true, but now it’s my miracle statement. God’s been doing a lot in my life and I thought I’d share just a few of the miracles and breakthroughs He’s been up to! For years, I used to struggle to find things I liked about myself. I would spend so much time dreaming about how much better my life would have been if I was thinner, prettier, more outgoing, funnier, etc… I began to take comfort in my insecurity because I had chosen to accept insecurity as something I was always going to have to live with. Turns out that’s not a really fun way to live and it’s actually a lot more exhausting to pretend to be secure.

Believe it or not, life is WAY more fun and easy when you begin to love yourself. The only way I have been able to truly love myself is when I stepped into living a life of freedom. Instead of obsessing over the ways I didn’t measure up, I began to
intentionally invest in and encourage others. I joined an amazing community group within my church and surrounded myself with friends who knew who they were and only wanted the best for me. I love what Matthew 6:30-33 MSG says “If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?  What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way He works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how He works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.”
This type of true freedom doesn’t come from getting a new haircut, facial, or going on a shopping spree. It comes down to trusting the one who in fact loved us first and opening up your heart to the healing He wants to give. I love how the passage above encourages us to “steep” into a God-Reality!! When we do this we understand that we are so loved by a God who has done some of His best work by creating us!

This devotional is meant to encourage anyone facing paralyzing insecurity and to let you know that it gets better when you accept that God has made you with both intention and purpose! God is still doing miracles today and this breakthrough of loving yourself can be one of them!
