Day 13 – Devoted Daily Devotional

LIONESSES HUNT TOGETHER. When I heard those words, it gave me goosebumps. I was walking my dog, listening to the audio version of Lisa Bevere’s book, Lioness Arising. She was talking about how female lions work together to hunt for food for their families. One lioness would approach the prey while the others worked to surround it. Then they each played a part in a coordinated effort to secure their dinner.

My first thought was about how empowering it is to know that I’m not doing this life alone. There are women everywhere who are doing the same thing I am – loving God, tending to family, pursuing my purpose. I’m not the only one putting in hard days and sleepless nights. There’s just something about knowing that it’s not just me that encourages me to keep going.

My next thought was specifically about Devoted Conference. Devoted provides an opportunity for women to seek sustenance together – we are seeking to know more about God’s plan for our existence, to be refreshed, to worship our creator. Now, if I were the only woman to show up, I’m sure I could still walk away changed. Not only would I have one-on-one with our amazing speakers, I would get the best of all the Devoted apparel, all to myself!

BUT lionesses hunt together. We were designed to live in community. Made to help each other with the hunt, the fight, the victory, and even to be there if there is defeat. We each play a part and by coming together, we increase our chances of success. So whether it’s Devoted, church, community group or just life in general – don’t try to do it alone!
