DAY 15

February 15, 2018

Have you ever been prompted to reach out to someone? I encourage you not to hesitate – you could be part of someone in your world having a life-changing encounter.

I felt called to continue my education after a few years of working. As I started to get to know the people in my program, I found that many of my peers were looking for a local church.

I was still trying to learn the expectations of my degree and the culture of my school, but I felt drawn to reach out to a woman in my class. Sarah became part of my group in a class, so I was able to get to know her better.

After a few weeks in the class, I invited her to the young adult service. I had been attending and serving in the young adult service for a few years and I knew that the message would speak well to her season in life.

She was interested and I looked for her in the service that week, but she wasn’t there. I didn’t want to appear pushy about it, but I still felt that I needed to follow up. When I saw her in class, I asked if she still wanted to attend. She did want to come to church and she made plans to show up at the following service.

It took a few more weeks and a few more invitations, but she finally came to the service. I first noticed her in the service during worship, and I will never forget the look of joy on her face. She was fully engaged in worship with her hands uplifted. That moment made all of the invitations and nerves about following up with her worth it.

Proverbs 27:17 NLT

“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”

I will be bringing my mom & sister with me to this years Devoted Conference – I hope to see you there!
