Day 2

February 2, 2016

We are daughters of the King of Heaven!

It’s amazing to know God loves us so much that He calls us His daughters. We are daughters of the King of heaven. See what great love the Father has lavished on us that we should be called children—daughters—of God, 1 John 3:1.

This one thought, “I am a daughter of the King of heaven,” is enough to revolutionize our whole life. God, who created the heavens and the earth, all that we can see, calls me His daughter.

God’s love for us is not dependent on how good or not good we are. God’s love for us does not change based upon how spiritually-mature or not mature we think we are. If we mess up and make mistakes, we are still perfectly loved by the One who made the heavens and the earth. God is extravagant in the giving of His love.

Yet even with this great love, we can get busy with life, busy serving, and forget why and who we are serving. Our serving becomes what we gain meaning from—instead of the revelation, “I am a daughter of the King of heaven!”

Jesus spoke to the church at Ephesus about this very thing. God’s people had been working hard serving. They were diligent. They did everything with excellence. Jesus commended this, but He also said, You have forsaken the love you had at first, Revelation 2:4. Instead of being motived by love, they had become motived by good works and service. This is wrong identity. It causes us to strive and work our way through life to gain meaning—God never intended His daughters to live this way.

It is God’s love for us that won our hearts. We love (God) because He first loved us, 1 John 4.19. Returning to our first love is returning to the One—Jesus—who first loved us. His love comes first. When we discover His love, our heart responds with love back to Him. Our identity is shaped here, in His love. We are daughters of the King —not doers for the King.
DEVOTED conference is only a few weeks away, let’s together…

1. Pray for every woman at every stage of life…
That we all “…being rooted and established in love, may have the power … to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that we may be filled to the measure of the fullness God” Ephesians 3:17-19.

2. Pray for the woman who hasn’t yet discovered this love, for her SALVATION

3. Pray for the woman who may need to REPENT of leaning into the wrong identity of works and service, God loves her unconditionally.

4. Pray for the woman, who needs to be REMINDED of God’s great love, to again fix her eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, Hebrews 12:12.
5. Pray for the PRESENCE OF GOD to be so powerfully felt by every woman—SHE WILL KNOW SHE IS LOVED!

Lots of love,
Romey Ritter
