Wrapping our Hearts into God’s

Corbin is currently on tour with Beyoncé – it feels as strange to write as it probably reads! The even stranger part about it is that he wasn’t seeking out this job. He’s performing on tuba, which is kind of like his side-dream-job-instrument they told him not to learn, and he made the connection just through word of mouth; it seemed like a random yet amazing opportunity, but we really had to see if God was in the middle of it all. A good opportunity isn’t always a God-ordained opportunity!
Our world is constantly telling us to “follow your heart” and “do what makes you happy.” This sounds cool and nice on the surface level, but as followers of Jesus, we must dig past our human desires and understanding to reach into what the spirit of God reveals to us through prayer and His word. In reality, saying that Corbin randomly got this job probably isn’t very accurate! We believe he’s there because we’ve been seeking God, and the Holy Spirit has been meeting us. Maybe Joseph felt like he “randomly” wound up in Pharaoh’s palace, or Daniel “randomly” wound up in King Nebuchadnezzar’s, but really being faithful and seeking to align our hearts with God’s heart takes us where God wants us to be. God wants to guide us, even more than we want to be guided! One of our favorite verses is from what King David writes in Psalm 25:4-5 (TPT):
Lord, direct me throughout my journey
so I can experience your plans for my life.
Reveal the life-paths that are pleasing to you.
Escort me along the way; take me by the hand and teach me.
For you are the God of my increasing salvation;
I have wrapped my heart into yours!
No wonder God referred to David as a man after [His] own heart. We may often find ourselves asking God for things with great expectancy without first saying, “Father, I know what I want, but what do you want me to want?” Wave Conference has ALWAYS been a time for us to align our hearts with God’s, and discover His desire for us. Let’s be followers of Jesus and a church body that wrap our hearts with His, so that we can find His plan in our ministries, careers, school work, relationships, and more!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, for this year’s conference and in our everyday journey, our prayer is that we will entwine our hearts with yours. Our greatest desire is to live our lives so close to you that our hearts chase after the things that are in your heart. And through this, we know that we will experience the plans you have for our lives. In Jesus’ Mighty name, AMEN!
