YOU BELONG

Blog based on message by Pastor Lainie Williams

Each & every believer has a mission to evangelize, it’s just a matter of believing you are called & making it a focus point in your daily life. Here are some great keys to remind ourselves of as we go about our daily lives…

We are called daughters

1 John 3:1 NIV
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

It’s important we focus on the new identity we have been given in Christ. This new identity tells us to live from the inside out. God loved us so much that He makes us part of the family.

Genesis 1:27 NIV
So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.

We have a unique gift that has been placed in every single one of us. So find out what it is that makes you unique. Sometimes you can find this out by listening to what others have said about you. By knowing who we are in Christ we find confidence to share our testimony.

We are called to love

Luke 10:27 NIV
He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.

God makes it known that our greatest mission is to love and that means everyone we come in contact with. Our love is reflected in our words and our actions. What do your words & actions say about you?
Put yourself in the other person’s shoes every now & again to give yourself fresh perspective on how your actions may be perceived.

Called on mission

Isaiah 12:4 NIV
 In that day you will say:

“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done,
and proclaim that his name is exalted.

We need to be intentional about being on mission everyday.

Practical ways to be intentional

  1. Pray to be used as a vessel for God
    He hears our prayers and wants us to be a useful vessel so when we pray for these opportunities, be ready to respond to them.
  2. Say yes to the Holy Spirit
    You might even find the Holy Spirit guiding you to do certain things throughout the day. Don’t ever take a pull from the Holy Spirit lightly.
  3. Carry Cash
    You might run into someone with a need, be open to helping them & then carry a conversation that leads to you inviting them to church.
  4. Use resources
    Most churches have different types of invite cards for events. Be more intentional about keeping some in your car or at your job. God will send you opportunities if you come prepared.

PRAYER
God, your Word says that I am saved & called. Please help me to see the needs around me & to notice when there is something I can do to help. I want you to use me – can you please teach me to change my thinking so that I am more mindful of others? AMEN.
