About thirteen years ago, I walked into Wave Church for the first time ever. I was a broken mess, trying to live my own way, destroying my life and others’ along the way. That Sunday night, I had a real encounter with Jesus and gave my life over to Him. I’m not perfect by any means, but I have found the exact thing that fills the void that was in my heart. I cannot recall exactly what the message was about, but all I felt was grace, mercy, kindness, and love being poured over me. I bawled my eyes out the entire service that night. Honestly, I never once felt condemned or judged for that. I immediately felt welcomed and knew that this was my “home”. I have not stopped coming to Wave Church ever since that night. I was dating a musician at the time, and thought he would love the atmosphere and music at the young adult service. He came with me and rededicated his life to Jesus, and even though it took a little time for us to both figure out how to do this Christian thing the “right” way, we have not turned back. That musician is now my husband and Worship Pastor at Wave. Who would have thought that God would bring us this far and that this would be the path for our life together? God knew it, and if it wasn’t for the people we decided to become close friends with and allow to speak into our lives, we could have ended up on a totally different path. Life is not without its challenges, but every day that we decide to stay in our church family, we have been blessed beyond measure.
I tell this story to give others encouragement and show what life can be like if you continue to choose daily to live in the Kingdom of God. Don’t try to do this journey on your own. You belong to Jesus. He welcomes us no matter who we are, where we’re from or what we have done.
John 10:27-28 NLT

If you find yourself struggling with a sense of belonging, meditate on these scriptures. Devoted Conference 2017 is themed after this thought of “You Belong”. Please consider being a part of the conference to learn and grow in your walk with God. Come and be reminded and learn more about where you belong and WHO you belong to. You are an important part of the Kingdom of God. I encourage you to live out your life on the path that God has set before you.
Jesus, I pray for the woman who is reading this. I thank you that you have led her to this blog and that it is in your perfect timing. I pray that you will continue to lead her path and bless her every step. I thank you that you have called her to be in the Kingdom of God and I pray you continue to show her how valuable she is to you and those in her world. I thank you that she has her own story of how she has come to know you. I pray that she will share her story so it can be used to help others come to know you. I thank you for your protection over her as she builds your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name…AMEN.
