Keep Your Dance by Pastor Mark Hopkins
Exodus 15:20-21 (NLT)
“Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron’s sister, took a tambourine and led all the women as they played their tambourines and danced. And Miriam sang this song: “Sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; he has hurled both horse and rider into the sea.”
Why dance and song?
1. It releases your emotions and expresses what’s in you.
2. Music and Dance can create community, identity, and gives a place of belonging.
3. Music and Dance change how you see.

You have to choose to get into dance.
Luke 15:25-30 (NLT)
“Meanwhile, the older son was in the fields working. When he returned home, he heard music and dancing in the house, and he asked one of the servants what was going on. ‘Your brother is back,’ he was told, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf. We are celebrating because of his safe return.’ “The older brother was angry and wouldn’t go in. His father came out and begged him, but he replied, ‘All these years I’ve slaved for you and never once refused to do a single thing you told me to. And in all that time you never gave me even one young goat for a feast with my friends. Yet when this son of yours comes back after squandering your money on prostitutes, you celebrate by killing the fattened calf!’
Thoughts on keeping the dance alive!
1. Be ready to sing and dance.
2. Listen to your response to the music and dance of others.
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
3. Don’t get your dance from the wrong source.
