Never Give Up

Blog By Robert Cameron

It’s a funny thing but when we find ourselves in a tight spot, we try everything else before we think of turning to Jesus.

Mark 5:25 (NIV) It was true with the woman who had the issue of blood, she had been to the doctors, tried other remedies, had spent all that she had and nothing had changed. However, as a desperate last ditch effort, she sought Jesus. It is interesting that walking with Jesus was a synagogue leader, he would possibly had been one of the people who had demanded the woman stay at home out of other people’s way. However, she may have been desperate but she was also determined to get an answer.

Sometimes we have to push through the negativity, the status quo and other barriers that we have allowed to be put on us.

Here are a couple of things that we should be aware of:

Our thinking
Our minds can play tricks with us like, “God’s not interested in that small problem you have” or “you don’t deserve it.” That is what I call ‘Stinking Thinking,’ but we have to renew our minds to line up with what the word of God says. Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV) “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart”

People’s opinions
We cannot allow negative people to speak into our lives, we have to be careful who we allow to give us advice. Ask those who you know have a relationship with God, and have been seeking Him for a long time. Especially those who are in your world and the leadership of your church. They will give you good, Godly direction.

Fear
So many have allowed fear to stop them from being all God wants them to be. When I was young, I was so shy at public speaking that if I was asked to give a 30 second testimony in church, I would be physically sick. However, I knew even as a young man that God was going to use me in ministry so I just preserved and broke through the fear barrier and now I have preached all over the world. Remember, ‘Fear is the dark room where we develop all of our negatives.’

Here is the answer to God replying to us:

Seek Him with all your heart!
Don’t just take a few seconds to blurt out a short prayer but be earnest and make the effort to get through to God. In Luke 18:1 (NIV) the scripture says that ‘they should always pray and not give up’

Listen to what He says
The scripture says in Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV) “Call to me and I will answer you” God is always ready to give an answer when we are willing to listen, even though it may not be the answer we are looking for at the moment. I remember someone telling me years ago that we have two ears and one mouth, so we should listen twice as much as talking.

Do what He says
We will find Him as we seek Him and do what He says
In John 2:5 (NIV) at the first recorded miracle of Jesus, they were in a dilemma, they had ran out of wine but his mother Mary said to the servants “Do whatever He (Jesus) tells you” in doing so, they saw a miracle unfold before them. You too will find the answers to your questions as you ‘Seek Him.’
