Tag, You’re It!

The game of Hide & Seek was a universal phenomenon for playdates and hangouts when we were growing up. In a nutshell, the game consists of one player closing their eyes and counting while all the other players hide. The seeker then opens their eyes and looks for the hidden players one by one. Upon finding each hider, the seeker uses the phrase, “Tag—you’re it!
Much like this old and popular children’s game, seeking God, longing for God, believing and expecting to find God, is not only an act of our faith, but it is also an act that’s worth the effort! The writer of Hebrews speaks to this truth.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 NIV)
This human analogy is a feeble attempt to describe our heart’s passion and hope for this year’s Wave Conference. But there is one major difference worth noting: God is not hiding from or alluding us. In fact, He beckons us to dwell in His presence, and to behold His power, beauty, and splendor. Connecting with God in this way allows us to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He, indeed, is “It”! There is no one like Him in all the earth (Jeremiah 10:6).
This year’s Wave Conference is a time to meet up with colleagues and friends, to dream together of what can be done through the local church, to exchange ideas and passions, and to encourage one another in the faith. Most importantly, it’s a time for us to earnestly Seek Him, both individually and collectively. Tag, He’s It! See you August 1-3, Wave Conference 2018.
